Tyrone Mings (defender) scored an excellent header as Aston Villa defeat Fulham 1-0 at Villa Park on Tuesday to move up of the order to fifth in the Premier League point table, a step closer to European football coming season.
Villa is one ahead of Tottenham Hotspur with overall 54 points after 33 matches, and five behind Manchester United. Fulham experienced a primal blow when midfielder Willian was hurt in the trial and was unfit to play, with Manor Solomon holding his position.
Fulham were compelled into another revise when Harry Wilson halted off after 17 minutes for Bobby De Cordova-Reid as things went from bad to worse. Villa took the lead in the first half when Mings met John McGinn’s cross at the near post with a superb rebounding header that sparkled across the goal and into the net for his first goal of the season.
Fulham dominated in the next half but once again forwards failed to score and, despite enjoying further possession, they did little to threaten Emiliano Martinez in the Villa goal.
